How do children learn?

Scientific research shows children learn vocabulary in two ways; Indirectly and Directly.

Indirectly: Children learn most words indirectly, through everyday experiences; talking, listening and reading. Reading aloud to your children, discussing books and subjects of interest and simply talking to them around the dinner table are all ways to help your child learn vocabulary indirectly.

Directly: Direct vocabulary learning refers to learning through specific teaching and instruction. Direct instruction helps students learn difficult words that are not commonly used in their everyday life. It also helps them understand and express complex concepts, gives them the language skills to read, listen and analyze difficult and broad subjects and helps them communicate their higher level thoughts in an effective way.

We live in a diversified and complex world. Good language skills help us navigate through it successfully.

How can you help your children increase their language skills?

One excellent way is to play games with them. Games inspire communication, thought and interaction. An excellent game is Word FRENZY card game. Word FRENZY teaches vocabulary, spelling and word association - how words relate to different subjects and each other - in a fast, fun, non-intimidating way. Word FRENZY card game is so much fun to play, your kids will never think it is an educational game. Best of all, you will have fun playing with them.

Word FRENZY is similar to an old parlor game called "Spoons". If you have never played "Spoons", think of a card game with the energy and excitement of Musical Chairs, only, instead of scrambling for chairs you grab for spoons. Of course, as in musical chairs, there is one less than the number of people playing. The person who misses the spoon would lose the round.

How do you play Word FRENZY?

Word FRENZY has that same energy and excitement of Spoons and musical chairs but uses a special deck of letter cards and a deck of category cards. A category is chosen before each round and then players draw and discard letter cards as fast as they can, searching for letters to spell a four letter word that relates to the category. The first player to get a word grabs a FRENZY Prize from the center of the table. That's the signal to stop looking for letters and just try to grab one of the remaining prizes. Just like with Spoons, there aren't enough to go around, so someone will be left without.

You get points for getting the word. You lose points for missing a prize. It's a hilarious, energetic word game that's fun for kids and adults. You can learn to play in just a few minutes and each round takes only five or six minutes to play. It really is education that's fun!

Don't miss out another day. Help your children improve their language skills while enjoying precious time with them with a fun, energetic game that will have everyone looking forward to playing again. That's one reason Word FRENZY is a multiple National award winner. Order your Word FRENZY card game today!
